A day to remember for school's big day
THERE was a carnival-like atmosphere at SMK Datuk Haji Ahmad Badawi when more than 2,000 people attended the school's Open Day and Young Entrepreneurship Day that was jointly organised by its Parent- Teacher Association and alumni association recently.

This year's event was merrier with the participation of the state police contingent led by Penang deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar, who took part in a 35-kilometre charity cycling ride.

The ride was part of an initiative to raise RM200,000 for the school's academic and extra-curricular activities.

About 300 riders took part in the ride which began from the school to Teluk Air Tawar and back.

There were many activities organised throughout the day for children, students and their parents such as a puzzle and paint-ball competitions, and demonstrations by the police force and the Fire and Rescue Department.

The state police also opened a counter for members of the public to sign up for the Rakan Cop exercise.

The crowd was spoilt for choice when it came to foods and beverages sold by dozens of stalls operated by students, alumni members and hawkers.

Publisher Karangkraf Media Group also donated books to the school at the event.

The highlight of the day was a lucky draw which saw winners walking away with an assortment of gifts.
